Weekly Update from Coach Faulds

May 6, 2013

Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

I am currently writing this newsletter from London, Ontario where the CIS East West Bowl is being played again. Laurier Football has great representation here with myself, Coach Dwayne Cameron, Coach Irv Daymond all members of the West team coaching staff this week. We also have 3 great players: RB Tyrrel Wilson, OL Michael Massel and OL Jeremy Deneau all participating in the testing, practices and the game - which will be held Saturday, May 11th at 1pm. For those of you who can't make the game, you can watch it live on www.cis-sic.tv or on Rogers TV, Cable 13 for those of you in the London area.

The coaching feature this week is for Offensive Line Coach Scott Evans. Scott had a great playing career here at Laurier winning a Vanier Cup and numerous awards along the way including the CIS Linemen of the year award in 2007. Scott is entering his third year now working with the offensive line. Scott brings a wealth of knowledge to the position and is a real technician.

Here's what is happening:

- The CFL Draft is today and 2 Lauirer players have a great shot of being drafted. Our fingers are crossed for WR Alex Anthony and RB/FB Isaac Dell on this special day for them. You can watch the draft live on TSN beginning at 12pm for Rounds 1 and 2. Rounds 3-7 will be broadcast online at tsn.ca.
- With this warmer weather hopefully everyone is getting in a golfing mood because one week today is the Laurier Football Golf Day - May 13th. Please come out and enjoy a day of fun with Laurier Football coaches, alumni and supporters. For more information please visit http://www.laurierfootballclub.com
- Laurier Football was definitely the most represented University at the GTA vs GHR High school All-Star football game yesterday in Etobicoke. We had 11 coaches and scouts watching some of the top recruits in Ontario play. The "Sea of Purple" will be a common site for all major recruiting events going forward.

Go Hawks Go!
